Ultrafast excited state relaxation in long-chain polyenes
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a comprehensive study, by femtosecond pump–probe spectroscopy, of excited state dynamics in a polyene that approaches the infinite chain limit. By excitation with sub-10-fs pulses resonant with the 0–0 S0 ? S2 transition, we observe rapid loss of stimulated emission from the bright excited state S2, followed by population of the hot S1 state within 150 fs. Vibrational cooling of S1 takes place within 500 fs and is followed by decay back to S0 with 1 ps time constant. By excitation with excess vibrational energy we also observe the ultrafast formation of a long-living absorption, that is assigned to the triplet state generated by singlet fission. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Influence of Interface Thermal Resistance on Relaxation Dynamics of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Materials under Ultrafast Pulse Laser Excitation
Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...
متن کاملStimulated Emission Depletion Dynamics in Push-Push Polyenes
Two-photon fluorescence polarisation and stimulated emission depletion dynamics are investigated in three high two -photon cross-section push-push polyenes: OM62, LP79 and OM77 and compared to the behaviour of a standard fluorophore (rhodamine 6G). Two-photon fluorescence anisotropy measurements (R(0) and Ω) were undertaken using picosecond time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC). For OM...
متن کاملUltrafast study of electronic relaxation dynamics in Au11 nanoclusters
Ultrafast electronic relaxation measurements in thiol-capped Au11 reveal an excited state lifetime of >500 ps, similar to Au13 and Au28. Upon extended exposure to laser light, a small amplitude, fast relaxation component was observed and attributed to formation of larger particles or aggregates. The long lifetime, combined with a lack of excitation intensity dependence, indicates that Au11 beha...
متن کاملExcited-State Geometry Optimization with the Density Matrix Renormalization Group, as Applied to Polyenes.
We describe and extend the formalism of state-specific analytic density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) energy gradients, first used by Liu et al. [J. Chem. Theor. Comput. 2013, 9, 4462]. We introduce a DMRG wave function maximum overlap following technique to facilitate state-specific DMRG excited-state optimization. Using DMRG configuration interaction (DMRG-CI) gradients, we relax the lo...

The photoinduced excited-state processes in 1,1'-diethyl-2,2'-cyanine iodine are investigated using femtosecond time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy. Using a broad range of probe wavelengths, the relaxation of the initially prepared excited-state wavepacket can be followed down to the sink region. The data directly visualize the directed downhill motion along the torsional reaction coordinate ...
